[Apple confirms june 29 as iphone launch date> A series of television ads aired on Sunday, as well as independant confirmation by an Apple spokesman, announcing the date of the much-anticipated Apple iPhone to be June 29th.
The iPhone combines the features of an iPod, a cell phone, and a PDA (personal data assistant), with Apple's trademark style and easy-to-use touchscreen interface, and will sell for $499 and $599 depending on the configuration.
Sunday's ads showed off several of the iPhone's features, including surfing the internet, watching videos and scrolling through e-mails using a finger as a pointer.
They ended with the news that the phone would be available "Only on the new AT and T" and "Coming June 29".
The Apple iPhone is perhaps the most highly-anticipated device ever to hit the consumer electronics market, and was announced last January at MacWorld in San Francisco by Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs.
